ideal accommodation.
Glastonbury lies at the centre of
the "Isle of Avalon", a region rich with mystical associations.
Glastonbury Abbey was a Celtic monastery founded in the fourth
or fifth century, making this the oldest Christian foundation
in England. The abbey's choir holds what is alleged to be the
tomb of Arthur and Guinevere. The Somerset Rural Life Museum
on the edge of the abbey grounds illustrates a range of local
occupations. Nearby Glastonbury Tor is a 521 ft landmark that
can be seen for miles around, the view from the top encompasses
the city of Wells, the Quantocks, the Mendips and sometimes the
Welsh mountains. Glastonbury music festival is a fantastic and
popular event, held every June outside the nearby village of
Pilton. Also see Glastonbury &
Glastonbury attractions.
