	Old Inverlochy Castle, Fort William. Although now a ruin this was one of the most important castles in Scottish history. Originally dating back to the 13th century, Inverlochy Castle last played a part in Scottish and English history during the Civil Wars of the 1640's. Location: On the outskirts of Fort William.

	BEN NEVIS DISTILLERY, Lochy Bridge, Fort William PH33 6TJ. Ben Nevis Distillery established in 1825, is one of the oldest licensed distilleries in Scotland. The distillery is nestled at the foot of Britain's highest mountain, Ben Nevis, which has a summit elevation of 4'406 feet above sea level. 	The Neptune's Staircase, Fort William. Neptune's Staircase is an extensive flight of nine locks in the Caledonian Canal. The canal, one of Thomas Telford's masterpieces opened in 1847, connects Loch Ness to Loch Linnhe and provides a safer inland route through Scotland from Moray Firth to the Firth of Lorne.
