Estartit Cataluna

Cataluna is made up of four provinces - Barcelona, Girona, Tarragona and Lleida (Lerida), each with a capital city of the same name. Barcelona is the place people want to visit and the capital is now very much an international city. The area enjoys a varied landscape from the high sierras of the Pyrenees, to the Mediterranean coast and the central lowlands. There are two Cataluna coastlines - the Costa Brava with its cliffs and deep coves (Costa is Catalan for coast and Brava means Rugged) - and the Costa Dorada (Gold Coast) with long, wide and gentle beaches. There are three airports - Barcelona, Girona and Tarragona. There are two international rail stations at Estacion de Sants and Estacion de Francia, both in Barcelona. Estartit is around 35 miles from Girona-Costa Brava airport, 30 miles from Girona and 28 miles from Figueres.

L'Estartit is a small town on the Costa Brava, on the north-eastern coast of Spain. It nestles between the foothills of the Montgri Massif and the Mediterranean Sea, in the province of Girona. Just a kilometre off the town harbour lies the Illes Medes archipelago, a world-reknown diving paradise made up of various uninhabited islands. The area is protected by Natural Park status and is home to many different species of flora and fauna. Estartit itself was once a fishing village and has grown with the advent of tourism. One of L'Estartit's main attractions is its long beach, which is divided into three sections: the main or central beach, Griells beach and Pletera beach. Here you can go scuba diving opposite the Medes Islands and on the Montgri coast. It also has an extensive marina, as well as numerous bars, restaurants and shops.
