Ellesmere Port is on Merseyside, a Metropolitan County
since 1998 and taking its name from the River Mersey. Merseyside
is divided into five separate districts - Wirral, Liverpool,
St Helens, Knowsley, and Sefton. It is divided into two parts
by the Mersey estuary, with the Wirral located on the west side
and the rest of the county located on the east side. The northern
part of Merseyside borders Lancashire to the north, Greater Manchester
to the east, while both parts border Cheshire to the south. |
