The town is spread along the route of the A666 road, which joins Darwen to its bigger neighbour, Blackburn, to the north. Darwen is home to the famous 100-year-old Darwen Tower. Darwen is a traditional market town with a recently improved town centre, it also has a leisure centre, an excellent market hall and the historic India Mill with its well known chimney stack.
