of bed and breakfast in Dalkeith! Dalkeith grew
around the Castle, built in the 12th century and began life as
an agricultural settlement. In the grounds of Dalkeith Country
Park stands Dalkeith House, a magnificent residence dating from
1701 and incorporating part of the ruins of 12th Century Dalkeith
Castle. The building is now leased to the University of Wisconsin
as their base in Scotland. The park also has an adventure playground
for the children. Today Dalkeith is a busy shopping centre for
many people of the surrounding areas.
