 Cowes is a seaport town located on
the west bank of the estuary of the River Medina, facing the
smaller town of East Cowes on the east Bank. The town gives its
name to the world's oldest regular regatta, Cowes Week, which
occurs in the first week of August. |

Wightlink
Isle of Wight Ferries operates a round-the-clock
service between the English mainland and the Isle of Wight. We
run every day of the year on three routes across the Solent and
sail up to 230 times a day. Portsmouth to Fishbourne takes approximately
40 minutes; Lymington to Yarmouth 30 minutes (both car ferries),
and Portsmouth to Ryde around 18 minutes (FastCat foot passenger
catamaran). Hovertravel carries passengers between Southsea and Ryde aboard a hovercraft. |

Island Line operate the eight and half miles of passenger
railway on the Isle of Wight, serving the island towns of Ryde,
Brading, Sandown, Lake and Shanklin. The railway connects to
the high speed ferry terminal at the top of Ryde Pier, allowing
easy access to the mainland and London. They are electric trains,
former London Underground rolling stock. |
