Clonakilty is a busy market town,
with attractive traditional shop fronts and hand painted signs
in English and Irish. The Post Office is housed in an old Presbyterian
church and the Town Council and Library in a converted Corn Mill.
The town has narrow streets which open into elegant squares,
historic buildings, brewery buildings, mills and quayside warehouses.
Ideal for touring the area, Clonakilty makes an holiday destination,
with unspoilt sandy beaches, coves and harbours. Michael Collins
was born in nearby Woodfield.
