Church Stretton lies in the border county
of Shropshire, one of England's least populated and least spoiled
counties, stretching from its winding Welsh border to the edge
of the urban West Midlands. The remotest and most beautiful parts
of the county are the southern and western edges where the twin
ridges of Wenlock Edge and the Long Mynd are excellent for walking
and hang-gliding. The county town of Shrewsbury sits in a loop
of the River Severn, a charming place to visit with some of the
best preserved Tudor and Jacobean streetscapes in England. |
