by the Romans in around AD 43. Evidence of the Romans' time in

at Fishbourne Roman Palace. Chichester’s most famous site
is the impressive Gothic cathedral with its tall spire and the
elegant Georgian architecture, the spire can be seen for miles
around towering over the Sussex Plain. 2000 years of history
are very much in evidence in Chichester – from the Tudor
Market Cross standing at the centre of the original Georgian
shopping centre, to the famous, modern Chichester Festival Theatre.
