Chalons en Champagne

Châlons-en-Champagne is the capital of the department of Marne. Formerly called Châlons-sur-Marne, the city was officially renamed in 1998. Chalons has a well-restored medieval quarter and is made up of half-timbered houses whose gardens stretch down to the pretty surrounding canals. The nearby vineyards produce Blanc de Blancs. The Notre Dame en Vaux is a Romanesque-Gothic masterpiece.
