The Champagne area encompasses Marne, Ardennes, Aube
and Haute-Marne. The "sacred" triangle of Epernay,
Reims and Chalons-en-Champagne attracts wine-lovers while the
region draws culture-lovers to its great churches, notably Reims
Cathedral. The Ardennes is a borderland of valleys, forests and
hills with ancient fortifications. Much of Champagne is flat
and the sign-posted Tourist Champagne Route wends its way through
vineyards to cereal plains stretching southwards to an area of
oak forests, water meadows and streams. |
