Welcome to our page of accommodation in Castleton!
Castleton, like many attractions in Derbyshire, has a
nickname; 'Gem of the Peaks'. Castleton lies between the Dark
and the White Peak areas of the Peak District at the head of
Hope Valley. Castleton is overlooked by the remains of Peveril
Castle. There are 4 "must see" spectacular caverns
awaiting visitors: the Blue John, Speedwell, Peak and Treak cliff
Caverns. Peak Cavern is in the centre of the village, underneath
Peveril Castle. It has the largest natural cave entrance in Britain
and the second largest in the world. Castleton has a new visitor
centre with public toilets, car parking, food outlets and visitor
information. Castleton is a pretty village with pubs, gift shops
and jewellers selling the famous "Blue John". There
are plenty of cafes and places to eat, and winding little back
streets with views up to ancient Peveril Castle or over to the
mighty bulk of Mam Tor. |
