The
Castle Donington hotels listed below are either in the
town or we have given a rough guide as to how far they are from
Castle Donington. We hope you enjoy your stay and find your ideal
accommodation.
The village of Castle Donington is
situated at the southern edge of Derbyshire close to the Leicestershire
border. It is only 4 miles from both the East Midlands Airport
and the M1 motorway, making it an excellent location in which
to stay when entering the county. There was once a Castle in
the area built in the 13th century, which was then demolished
and rebuilt later on that same century. The castle disappeared
eventually towards the end of the 16th century, all that is left
today is a mound in the actual location. The church that dates
back to this period is still standing. The village itself is
relatively new and contains the usual amenities that you would
expect to find in a village of its size. There are also some
fine Tudor houses within the village, making it highly picturesque
and a popular spot with many boating and picnic areas alongside
the River Trent. Close by is Donington Park racetrack, a world
class Grand Prix racing circuit. The Park also houses the Donington
Grand Prix Collection, home of the largest collection of Grand
Prix cars in the world. Also see Castle
