The red sandstone ruins of Arbroath Abbey
are located close to the centre of the town. A splendid new visitors'
centre contains a range of interpretative displays with a viewing
gallery from which much of the Abbey can be seen. About 7 miles northeast of Carnoustie. |

Smokies. Smoking haddock is still very much a cottage industry
in Arbroath with a designated area within the town. When visiting
Arbroath head for the "fit of the toon" where your

Barry Water Mill NTS, Barry, Carnoustie, Angus
DD7 7RJ. Tel: 01241 856761. Barry Mill was the heart of this
small rural community in the 19th century, providing work and
social opportunities for local people. Until as late as 1982
the mill was still working the last of its kind in Angus
producing oatmeal and finally animal feed. Location: On the outskirts of Carnoustie. |
