Calpe Pais Valencia

Pais Valencia is the region hugging the Mediterranean along the eastern coast of Spain. It is a lush and fertile area with orange, lemon and peach groves, and even rice fields irrigated by systems devised by the Moors. Here you will find deserted beaches, pretty hilltop villages and the historic towns and cities of Valencia, Alicante and Cartagena. The region is divided into 3 provinces - Alicante, Castellon and Valencia. It is bounded to the north by Cataluna and Aragon, to the west by Castilla-La Mancha, to the south by Murcia and to the east by the Mediterranean Sea. Every year holiday-makers are drawn to the beaches of the Costa Blanca, the Costa del Azahar and the Costa Calida.

Calpe is located around 5 miles northeast of Altea and 12 miles from Benidorm.

CalpeCalpe is an ancient fishing village on the Costa Blanca, renowned for its beautiful beaches. Calpe is a town rich in history and culture and its strategic position on the coast has attracted many voyagers and settlers throughout history. Some of the most important monuments of Calpe are its Gothic Catholic church and the tower of La Peca, dating from the 18th century. From Calpe, visitors can access Penyal d'Ifach, a dramatic 332m. tall block of limestone rising from the sea, from whose summit are spectacular views of the Costa Blanca. The summit of the rock is reached by means of a tunnel through the rock. The rock itself is an important habitat for migrating seabirds. Calpe has a modern marina that sits alongside the old fishing port. From here it is possible to take boat rides around the rock and to the nearby resort of Benidorm.
