Bed and Breakfast in Buxton |

Bed
and Breakfast in Buxton. In 79 AD the Romans discovered a spring
in Buxton, Derbyshire from which 1500 gallons of pure water gushed
every hour at a constant 28'C. Buxton's spring became so famous
that Mary Queen of Scots was allowed by her captors to come here
for treatment of her rheumatism. Today, visitors can fill their
own water bottles from St. Ann's Well, a little street fountain
in front of the Crescent. The Crescent
in Buxton was originally built as 3 hotels and several baths,
they fell into disrepair and are only recently being restored. Other landmarks to see are the old Royal Devonshire
Hospital, now part of Derby University,
The Pavillion and The Opera House (photo). Buxton is 10 miles
west of Bakewell, 10 miles east of
Macclesfield and 15 miles SE
of Stockport. Also see Buxton
& Buxton attractions.
