Pais Valencia is the region
hugging the Mediterranean along the eastern coast of Spain. It
is a lush and fertile area with orange, lemon and peach groves,
and even rice fields irrigated by systems devised by the Moors.
Here you will find deserted beaches, pretty hilltop villages
and the historic towns and cities of Valencia, Alicante and Cartagena.
The region is divided into 3 provinces - Alicante, Castellon
and Valencia. It is bounded to the north by Cataluna and Aragon,
to the west by Castilla-La Mancha, to the south by Murcia and
to the east by the Mediterranean Sea. Every year holiday-makers
are drawn to the beaches of the Costa Blanca, the Costa del Azahar
and the Costa Calida.
Bunol is located 30 miles due west
of Valencia and the beaches of the Mediterranean. It is well-connected
by motorway and rail to Madrid and Valencia.

Every year, Bunol hosts La Tomatina, the world's
largest vegetable fight. This charming town erupts into a fiery
blaze of tomato-hurling on the last Wednesday of every August,
after a week long festival of music, food and drinking. Bunol
itself lies along the Bunol River and is surrounded by the mountain
ranges La Sierra de Las Cabrillas, la de Dos Aguas and la de
Malacara y Martes. Archeological evidence indicates civilization
in Bunol going back 50,000 years. Bunol castle is situated in
the town centre; it comprises two enclosures built on a rocky
crest between the River Bunol and the Barranco de Borrunes. |
