Braintree is a traditional market town of fine
architecture and listed buildings. Its grand central tower with
striking clock dominates Braintree town square. Braintree has
great golf, walking, leisure centres, and cycling - and good
pubs and restaurants. Antiques are a local speciality - as you
would expect from the home of the famous "Lovejoy"
TV series. Trains depart from Braintree to London Liverpool Street
approximately once an hour. The town centre has regular streetmarkets,
farmers markets and carnivals and festivals. Close by is the
Freeport Designer Outlet Village with over 80 outlet shops offering
reductions on a host of famous brands, plus regular entertainment
and live events. Braintree is approximately
7 miles from Chelmsford and 12
