IrelandWelcome to our page of information, attractions and places of interest around Boyle. The Boyle hotels listed below are either in the town or we have given a rough guide as to how far they are from Boyle. The Republic of Ireland is bound to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the east is the Irish Sea which reconnects to the ocean via the southwest with St. George's Channel and the Celtic Sea. The Republic of Ireland has 26 counties, and five cities — Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, and Waterford. The west-coast of Ireland features cliffs, hills and low mountains. The centre of the country is flat with large areas of bogland. We hope you enjoy your stay and find your ideal accommodation from our list of Boyle hotels.

One of the chief towns of County Roscommon, Boyle has a pleasant position at the base of the Curlew Hills and the north bank of the river Boyle, which connects Lough Gara and Lough Key. It is a good touring centre, with golf, tennis and river and lake fishing. Launch trips and boats are for hire at Lough Key, ideal for forest walks and first class fishing, with camping, caravan sites, a restaurant, cruising and water sport facilities.

Attractions Boyle Abbey, Boyle, Co Roscommon. An impressive and well preserved Cistercian Monastery which was founded in the 12th century under the patronage of the local ruling family, the MacDermotts. The abbey was built between the Romanesque and Gothic periods and exhibits features of both, the most notable being the row of rounded arches on one side of the nave which faces a row of pointed arches on the other side. In contrast to the Cistercian tradition of plain churches, the columns at the western end of the abbey are carved with elaborate figures and animals. The visitors centre is housed in the restored gatehouse. Location: On the outskirts of Boyle.
