Birkenhead
Park. Birkenhead Park became the World's first public park in
1847, and the Park today is almost the same now as it was in
the then. Plans are underway for new public toilets and a cafe,
restoration of the lakes, boathouse and Swiss bridge. Several

Wirral Tramway & Wirral Transport Museum,
1 Taylor Street, Birkenhead, CH41 1BG. Tel: 0151 647 2128. Birkenhead
was the first place in Europe to adopt a street tramway, which
ceased in 1937. The trams were brought back to life in 1995,
making a short journey from Woodside to the Wirral Transport
Museum. In addition to trams, the museum houses a collection
