 Belford is in Northumberland, a county that borders
Cumbria to the west, County Durham to the south, Tyne and Wear
to the southeast, the Scottish Borders to the north and has nearly
80 miles of North Sea coastline. It is an area of uncrowded golden
sandy beaches, stunning countryside set amongst two Areas of
Outstanding Natural Beauty and the rugged Northumberland National
Park. There are more castles in Northumberland than anywhere
else in England and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne is the birthplace

Farne
Islands. The Farne Islands lie two to three miles off the Northumberland
coast midway between the fishing village of Seahouses and the
magnificent Castle of Bamburgh. As well as being the most famous
Sea Bird Sanctuary in the British Isles they also have a large
colony of Atlantic or Grey Seals. Join us on one of our many
year-round trips and explore this most wonderous of British archipelagoes

St. Cuthbert's Cave is a dramatic sandstone
cave formed under an overhang of rocks. It is here that St. Cuthbert's
body is said to have been taken by the monks of Lindisfarne Priory
in 875, during their flight from the vikings. The cave is in
St. Cuthbert's Cave Wood, a National Trust Property. About 3 miles west of Belford. |
