South Wales boasts 2 national
parks, the Brecon Beacons National Park and the Pembrokeshire
Coast National Park. It is an area of mountain ranges, battered
and breath-taking coastlines and lush green valleys. With the
Bristol Channel to the south and Cardigan Bay to the west, South
Wales offers opportunities for water-sports enthusiasts,
bird-watchers aswell as walkers and climbers. The capital city
is Cardiff with its airport, castle and the National Museum of
Wales and the Millennium Stadium (photo). Monmouthshire is the
easternmost county in Wales with the beautiful Wye valley and
impressive castles. South Wales' Gower peninsula, 15 miles
of undulating limestone, points down into the Bristol Channel
to the west of Swansea, fringed by sweeping yellow beaches and
precipitous cliffs. Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire to the
west attract thousands of visitors, with the glorious coastline,
seaside resorts and the 186 mile coastal path. |
