Self catering accommodation in Baslow |
|
Self catering accommodation in Baslow. Baslow lies
at the junction of the A619 linking Bakewell to Chesterfield,
the A 621 linking Sheffield to Baslow, and A623 through the very
heart of the Peak District. The oldest part of Baslow is Bridge
End with a fine church and triple-arched bridge that carried
the original 18th century turnpike road from Sheffield over the
River Derwent. The accompanying toll-house is small, with a door
only 3 1/2 feet tall. Thatched cottages are rare in the Peak
District but a row can be found at Nether End in Baslow, next
to Bar Brook. Baslow has B&B's, hotels, restaurants, tea
rooms and caravan site, and is the northern entrance to Chatsworth
Park. Baslow is 3 miles north of Bakewell,
7 miles west of Chesterfield
and 9 miles south of Sheffield.
