Welcome to our page of information, attractions and
places of interest around Bantry. The bed and breakfast
in Bantry listed below is either in the town or we have given
a rough guide as to how far the accommodation is from Bantry.
Bantry is a busy market-town at the head of Bantry Bay, in the
far southwest of Ireland in the heart of West Cork, a beautiful
and unspoiled area with beautiful bays and beaches. The town
has a fine raised plaza in its main square overlooking the harbour,
and a variety of small shops and businesses, restaurants and
bars. The majestic Bantry House overlooks the harbour with beautiful
gardens reaching down towards the shore and views of the Caha
Mountains across the bay. Bantry House is open to the public.
In 2012 Bantry is the host town for the prestigious Atlantic
Challenge, an international contest of seamanship. Bantry lies
only an hour from Cork and Kerry international airports, and
the new Cork/Swansea ferry. |
