 Crathes Castle, Garden & Estate, Banchory,
Aberdeenshire AB31 5QJ. Tel: 01330 844525. Crathes is a magnificent
16th-century tower house standing on an estate granted to the
Burnett family in 1323 by King Robert the Bruce. It has a profusion
of turrets, gargoyles and towers, and is surrounded by superb
gardens including ancient sculpted yew trees. About 3 miles east of Banchory. |

The
Peel Ring of Lumphanan is all that remains of a 12th c. motte
and bailey castle. Lumphanan was held by the Durwards in the
13th c. and was visited by Edward I in 1296. Lumphanan was occupied
as late as 1782. About 10 miles northwest of Banchory. |

in the heart of the city, with its impressive architecture, fine

and Post Impressionists Monet, Renoir, Sisley, Bonnard, Toulouse-Lautrec
