centre at Arundel is surrounded by ancient woodland and overlooked
by the town's historic castle. The wetlands at Arundel are home
to many rare species of wetland wildlife. Note: dogs are not

Treasure Houses of England, and home to priceless works of art.

was operational between 1829 and 1963. It is currently being
restored (2006) to full working order. Still worth a visit and

From Arundel the rural and coastal county of Sussex
can be accessed. The county is now divided into East and West
Sussex and is bounded on the north by Surrey, east by Kent, south
by the English Channel, and west by Hampshire. It is an area
with a fertile coastal plain along which are scattered numerous
resort towns including Hastings, Bexhill, Eastbourne, Seaford,
Brighton, Shoreham-by-Sea, Worthing, Littlehampton and Bognor.
The South Downs Way runs along the grassy ridge of the South
Downs, giving splendid views over the countryside and the coast
over the chalk cliffs of Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters.
