	The famous henge of Arbor Low is a fine example of a stone circle and can be found 3 miles along the Long Rake west of Youlgreave. It is thought to have been constructed by the Beaker People in around 2000 BC and the whole monument with its rock-cut ditch, bank and a circle of 47 stones, measures 250 ft across and 812 feet in circumference, with entrances at the north-west and south-east of the bank. Connected to it is a sepulchral mound known as Gib Hill. Bronze age remains have been found during excavations and Arbor Low is one of the finest Stone Age 'henge' monuments in the North of England, a site of unique archaeological and cultural interest. Although the massive rocks are all lying flat and half-buried, Arbor Low is a powerful place to visit at any time of the year.
