Welcome
to our page of accommodation in Annan! The historic Royal
Burgh of Annan is a small border town set on the River
Annan, 16 miles from Carlisle or Dumfries and only 8 miles from
Gretna Green. Once an important trading port, the town is made
up of many traditional red stone buildings and boasts a rich
history of ship building and fishing. It lies at the start of
the lovely Solway Coast Trail - a drive along quiet roads to
a wealth of castles and abbeys. The Sustrans Cycleway passes
through Annan over the specially built river bridge. There are
plenty of local walks to take in the rich variety of wildlife
- red squirrel, roe deer, otter, foxes, badgers, kingfishers,
owls and sea birds. With a lovely sandy beach just 3 miles west
at Powfoot, this is a superb place from which to explore an unspoilt
area, either on foot or by car. |
