	Alva - Other information - The town developed during the 18th and 19th with textile mills with the waters of the Alva Burn which flows down from the hills. Knitwear is still produced and the Mill Trail Visitor Centre has a working mill. The largest mill building in the Strude Mill complex has been restored and converted to flats.
