Albert Cottage Broadstairs
Broadstairs
Kent
(In Broadstairs)
|
Sleeps 6. Albert Cottage, a delightful grade 2 listed, ancient
tarred and weatherboard cottage dating from 1750, is located
in the heart of the unpretentious and unspoilt seaside town of
Broadstairs. The town was a holiday home for Charles Dickens,
housing the Museum and annual Dickens Festival, plus a wealth
of restaurants, quaint flint cottages tucked away in picturesque
squares and narrow streets, beautiful bays, and steeped in maritime
history. As well as the main sweeping wide beach with its golden
sand, there are six other bays and splendid cliff tops to explore
and enjoy. Located very centrally in the town and only a few
minutes walk from the beach, but surprisingly quiet, Albert Cottage
is a holiday home of character, yet with modern kitchen and bathroom
facilities. |

Sleeps 6. Steeped in history, this wonderful Grade II listed
Georgian house enjoys a splendid position in an elegant sweeping
crescent with marvellous panoramic sea views. It retains masses
of original features including superb oak floorboards, fireplaces,
ornate plasterwork on the high ceilings and offers extremely
comfortable accommodation over five floors - Samuel Taylor Coleridge
is recorded as having stayed here between 1819 and 1833 and as
a princess - Queen Victoria stayed in the house next door!! Ramsgate
itself has a great maritime history - the only Royal Harbour
in England by the warrant of King George IV - and bang up to
date, hosts the Powerboat and European Waterski championships
in July. In the nearby marina are a selection of pavement cafes,
bars and restaurants and the high street offers a modern supermarket,
butchers and greengrocers for all your needs. |
