Aberfeldy is a largely Victorian town, sitting at the point where the Urlar Burn flows into the River Tay, 6 miles from Loch Tay. The small town centre is a busy mix of craft and tourist shops, its main attraction the beautifully restored early 19th century Aberfeldy Water Mill. The famous Wade's Bridge spans the Tay here, with its humpback and 4 arches, built by General Wade in 1733 and overlooked by the Black Watch Monument. Nearby is Castle Menzies, an imposing Z-shaped 16th century tower house. Aberfeldy makes a good base for exploring the area. Also see Aberfeldy.

Attractions Castle Menzies, Weem, Aberfeldy, Perthshire PH15 2JD Tel: 01887 820982. A spectacular sixteenth century castle, restored by the Menzies Clan Society seat of the Chiefs of Clan Menzies for over 400 years and importantly situated. Bonnie Prince Charlie rested here on his way to Culloden in 1746. About 1.5 miles north of Aberfeldy.

Attractions Croftmoraig Stone Circle, near Aberfeldy. Croftmoraig is an incredibly impressive monument, with its concentric rings and outliers on an artificial platform. The site was excavated in 1965. About 4 miles west of Aberfeldy.
